Hello. This is Nakae from Higuchi Knitting Industry Co., Ltd.
Our company has been making socks for 92 years. Right now, I am focusing most of my efforts on passing on the Japanese art of sock making to the next generation .
To that end, we have started offering seminars for university students this year. Students can actually experience the "manufacturing site" and learn the process of how socks are made from yarn. Furthermore, to give them a chance to experience the "sales site," we hold a pop-up store every month and deliver socks directly to customers.
Seeing them working hard to prepare for the pop-up reminds me of how I felt when we first started the business. Talking to customers, selling with our own hands, and making them happy. I feel that this is the origin of manufacturing.
We hope that this seminar will shed a little light on the future of Japanese manufacturing. At the next POPUP, there will be original projects thought up by the students. Please come and visit us.
