The name Tsutsushita comes from its cylindrical shape without a heel . This unique design was created by eliminating the three-dimensional stitching on the heel.

When we first started, we made regular socks with heels, but we received a lot of complaints from customers, such as "My feet don't fit, so there's too much heel left" and "They don't fit properly." So we came up with the idea, "What if we just did away with the heel?" and started making prototypes.

After much trial and error, we used high-quality, highly elastic yarn and a special knitting method to create cylindrical socks that fit comfortably on any foot . We hope you will try out Tsutsushita's commitment to solving size problems and pursuing a comfortable fit.

Special stretch yarn that "stretches well" and the highest quality cotton yarn that "does not get stuffy"

Knitted with strong, stretchy yarn, these socks gently tighten around the entire foot without using rubber threads that can cause itching and sweating. Also, the finest Egyptian cotton yarn is used at a high density for the ultimate comfort.

Tsutsushita does not use the elastic thread at the opening of regular socks. Instead, it uses a stretchy thread (filament twin yarn) with just the right strength throughout the entire sock. This exquisite strength creates a gentle, comfortable fit, rather than an uncomfortable tight feeling.

However, this yarn is difficult to handle and does not easily catch on the needles of the knitting machine, so the yarn often comes loose along the way. Every time this happens, the machine needs to be stopped and the yarn needs to be fixed by hand, which is far from efficient from a productivity standpoint. For this reason, many sock manufacturers choose to use elastic yarn in combination with the yarn, which is easier to handle .

However, the elastic thread at the opening of the shoe can be very tight, which can be a burden for people with sensitive skin or who suffer from swelling .

That's why we've chosen to stick to this stretchy yarn and continue to make " gentle socks that don't slip down" through repeated trial and error. We prioritize comfort for the wearer over production efficiency. That's the philosophy behind Tsutsushita's manufacturing.

"Only natural fibers touch the skin"

Tsutsushita is knitted in the exact opposite way to regular socks. Usually, synthetic fibers are knitted on the inside where it touches the skin, but Tsutsushita uses high-quality natural cotton on the inside, which is gentle on the skin and gives a comfortable, enveloping feel. It absorbs sweat and moisture, so you won't have to worry about odors or stuffiness even if you wear it all day.

Most regular socks are knitted using a method that uses natural fibers on the front (front yarn) and synthetic fibers on the back (back yarn). This is because it is easier to achieve a good fit when synthetic fibers such as nylon or polyurethane are used for the back yarn. Therefore, even if the quality label says "100% cotton," in reality, only the front yarn is cotton, and the back yarn that touches the skin is often made of synthetic fiber.

The knitting method for "Tsutsushita" is the exact opposite. The back yarn that touches the skin uses natural Egyptian yarn that is gentle on the skin, while the front yarn that requires elasticity and durability uses highly elastic filament-in-yarn. The result is a straight, heelless garment that fits perfectly to any size while maintaining a soft, gentle feel.

Yarn and knitting method. These two points of attention are the key to "Tsutsshita."
